Sitting in the cemetery I've been here all day Nowhere else I want to go So I may as well stay In the grass among my friends Waiting for the world end Drowning in a sea of swallows I think it's going to rain Flowers floating down my throat And blooming in my brain Yes I've been here all alone Trying to carve my name in stone I'd rather be dead I'd rather be dead Sitting in the cemetery Composing epitaphs I would love to show you But I'm sure that you would laugh And when our conversations cease You know I'll never rest in peace Drowning in a sea of swallows I think it's going to rain Flowers floating down my throat And blooming in my brain Yes I've been here all alone Trying to carve my name in stone I'd rather be in bed I'd rather be in bed

You have been standing on the sidelines way too long And now your not sure what to do Almost as sad as a bird without a song You know this life won't wait for you This is your moment So don't let it pass Better grab it fast This is your moment Don't spend it sitting in the grass Try and make it last For your whole life you haven't had too much on your plate You're chalking too much up too fate Gotta take your destiny in the palm of your hands Cant be afraid to make a few demands This is your moment So don't let it pass Better grab it fast This is your moment Don't spend it sitting in the grass Try and make it last This is your moment Better try and own it

Petrushka gets his sweet revenge Somewhere on the skyline's fringe Beautiful toy Turn into a boy Bang on the drum to your own freedom Rise up your head from under their thumb Tonight I'm on the top of the world So high up I can see it's curve So if you feel like your being observed That's just me from sea to shining See no evil The earths my easel Pop goes the weasel Starless sky No clouds around Just my big eyes looking down Its okay No need to be scared This whole city will be spared Tonight I'm on the top of the world Treasures deep within the ground Sunlight calls and seeds unbound Flowers opening to the sun All at once the world is one And I've got all of them on the run Tonight I'm on the top of the world So high up I can see it's curve So if you feel like your being observed That's just me from sea to shining

Local Heroes 01:57
They left their capes at home Went to work wrestling the unknown Trying to get the letters off their chests In fine print That read "not impressed" Flowers with their heads in books Cataloguers of dirty looks Their mirror is cracked Their e-mail is hacked But they handled everything with tact And by the light of the blue moon They used to belt out quite a tune But they lost their voices And their hair turned grey They had the choice But in the end they never moved away Now the pain is localized As they wipe the tears out of their eyes Once saw them pulling down the sky They'll be heroes when they die But for now they walk the beat Up and down the same old street Everyone here knows their name Local heroes local fame They'll be zeroes when they die Local heroes didn't need to try Local heroes never even try

There is a border inside of me You'll cross eventually Its imperceptible but I swear its there Where dark clouds dissipate Lines get blurred an empty state Of mind just around the bend A place where all blue feelings end Bye bye fronteria The moon snail's closed I've burned my clothes I'm walking naked but composed Into eternity Like an endless poem Forever rambling as I roam Trying to paint Inner landscapes And speaking to My inner saint I'm overheating Barely eating but I'm fine Background repeating in my mind Just a skull in the sand In a cartoon land Bye bye fronteria The moon snail's closed I've burned my clothes I'm walking naked but composed Into eternity God bowed his head When he heard the devil was dead He lit a candle It almost burned all of heaven down

about

The Moon Snail had been a beacon of light in an otherwise fog drenched existence. For a shining moment Mikie thought he might do something other than take over the family sign painting business. He had a natural line- but unless he stayed perfectly focused, he always felt something moving his hand towards abstraction. When JJ entered the picture everything changed. He would sermonize madly into the night about the colours of different hZ ranges as the tape loops he had been creating played in the background. Finally he saw someone who could offer him salvation, who understood the pitfalls of straight lines. But at that last session the Moon Snail overwhelmed them both and now the beacon could no longer contain the light stored within it. As he stood watching the flames lick the roof of the converted school house, the shrill sound of JJ's laugh occupied the upper frequencies of his mind. Everything was coming to an end...

about

colouring outside Saint Pierre and Miquelon

Little is known about this Miquelon power-pop band. They played a handful of shows at the all-ages venue the Moon Snail (?) to moderate acclaim and released the cassette ep "the lines" on their own coquille label in 1984. A dispute between recordist Johnni "JJ" DesRogiers and bassist Mikie led to the destruction of the adat masters. A rough cassette dub from the abortive lp sessions survives. ... more
