lyrics

They left their capes at home
Went to work wrestling the unknown
Trying to get the letters off their chests
In fine print
That read "not impressed"
Flowers with their heads in books
Cataloguers of dirty looks
Their mirror is cracked
Their e-mail is hacked
But they handled everything with tact
And by the light of the blue moon
They used to belt out quite a tune
But they lost their voices
And their hair turned grey
They had the choice
But in the end they never moved away
Now the pain is localized
As they wipe the tears out of their eyes

Once saw them pulling down the sky
They'll be heroes when they die
But for now they walk the beat
Up and down the same old street
Everyone here knows their name
Local heroes local fame
They'll be zeroes when they die
Local heroes didn't need to try
Local heroes never even try
